The team at the Paradox Development Studios working on the upcoming Runemaster says that one of the main aims of the new title is to stay as true as possible to the actual Norse mythological universe on which it is based.

The team explains on the official forums that, “Many of our players will, no doubt, be somewhat knowledgeable in this lore, and will not fail to mention when we make mistakes. But sometimes you have to make choices that are consistent with the lore, but still deviate in places, and we will try to explain these where we can.”

The team goes on to detail the difficulties in finding actual info sources for the Norse mythos.

Paradox cites The Poetic Edda and the Prose Edda as its main sources for Runemaster, while other influences include John Bauer, a Swedish artist.

The team also says that humans, trolls and giants will get equal attention both when it comes to gameplay and to narrative elements.
