An analyst and a several anonymous sources have suggested that during the summer months Zynga would announce a number of video games which will use the Unreal Engine. They would also offer a deeper gameplay experience than its current offerings.

Colin Sebastian, who is the analyst watching the video game industry at Baird, told Gamasutra that “This summer, we believe that Zynga will announce a new game slate, including ‘mid-core’ titles that should appeal to a broader audience of gamers, as well as sequels to existing franchises, such as Farmville.”

The sources believe that the new Unreal Engine-powered games will see Zynga refocus its efforts in order to gain access to a new category of players.

Recently, Mark Pincus, chief executive officer at Zynga, stated that his company would try and become more like the Xbox Live service from Microsoft, and that it would try and somewhat separate from Facebook.
