Video game developer Psyonix announces that its next project is a title called Rocket League, which will mix football and action mechanics in order to create a fast-paced experience that delivers both single-player and multiplayer modes.

The game is designed to act as a successor to Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars and will support up to eight players as they choose their favorite ship and then play a science fiction version of the most popular sport in the world.

Rocket League will introduce an entirely new Season Mode, which includes a wide array of customization options for the rocket-powered vehicles, unlockable content and a number of arenas.

The physics of the title have been enhanced for both the vehicles and the ball, creating unexpected and sometime hilarious situations.

Gamers need to learn team-based tactics to be successful and the multiplayer component will include splitscreen, local and online options, the last of them powered by dedicated servers.

Rocket League also includes an enhanced replay mechanic which gives gamers the tools to see how they performed and where their performance can be improved.

Dave Hagewood, the president of Psyonix, states, “We believe its unique mix of stunning physics, crazy aerial action, and compelling multiplayer combat will drive our current fan base – and a whole new generation of players – absolutely wild.”
