Rise of the Triad 1.4 has just been released on Steam, bringing more opportunities for ludicrous gibs with the addition of the mighty Doomstick, a semi-automatic shotgun coming straight from Hell.

The developers were nice enough to put out a video showing the Doomstick in action, and in typical Rise of the Triad fashion it's full of splattered eyeballs and dead bodies flying around. And explosions.

The update brings a ton of new changes, optimizations, tweaks, features, cheats and achievements and a brand new weapon, along with six new community maps that bring the grand total to a staggering 21 maps.

Those interested in finding out exactly what the new patch brings can have a look at the full patch notes on the Steam community forums.

Rise of the Triad is the result of the collaboration between Interceptor Entertainment and Apogee Software, one that re-invented the cult classic first-person shooter and made it bigger and better than ever before.

To celebrate ROTT 1.4 coming out, the devs have also decided to offer a limited time only discount on Steam, allowing those who were late to the party to grab the remake of the legendary shooter, the only game featuring D.R.U.N.K. missiles, at 75 percent off.
