Hollywood actress Camilla Luddington has demonstrated the new facial capture technique used by the upcoming Rise of the Tomb Raider video game, which provides a whopping 7,000 points of reference, as opposed to the regular systems that have around 90 points.

The Tomb Raider franchise received a stellar reboot back in 2013 when it appeared for the PC, PS3, and Xbox 360 platforms. Earlier this year, developer Crystal Dynamics and publisher Square Enix released Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition, which included remastered visuals and appeared on PS4 and Xbox One.

Earlier this summer, the two companies confirmed that a sequel, called Rise of the Tomb Raider, was going to launch next year for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

While only a few sketches have been released since then, actress Camilla Luddington, who provides the voice and facial model for protagonist Lara Croft, has offered an inside look at the game's development.

According to Luddington, Rise of the Tomb Raider uses a new facial capture technique called Mova that provides around 7,000 points of reference, as opposed to the regular 90 offered by traditional techniques.

The actress has also revealed a photo of herself with the special paint applied on her face, and according to her, the Mova system makes Rise of the Tomb Raider become "awesomely detailed/realistic."

Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics might offer more details about the game later this week at Gamescom 2014.
