Most newcomers need time in order to renounce Call of Duty approach

Abbie Heppe, a community manager working on Titanfall, says that most gamers who are used to traditional first-person shooter mechanics will need time to adapt to the unique mechanics of the new title from Respawn Entertainment.

The developer tells The Official Xbox Magazine that, “You have to break people in a bit, and then I see them jump into a wall and they’re like ‘oh, I just ran along it’ – and by the end of the match they’re going crazy and playing more like how I would play.”

Respawn Entertainment is doing tests with random groups of players to see how they experience Titanfall and Heppe says that most of them are initially playing the game like they would Call of Duty.

The new shooter is designed to mix traditional mechanics and big Titan battles, allowing mechs and gamers on foot to co-exist on the same maps.

It will be launched in early 2014.
