Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, the action role playing game from 38 Studios and Big Huge Games, will see its demo released onto the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 today.

UPDATE: The Xbox 360 version of the demo is available for download at this link, provided you have a Xbox Live Gold subscription.

UPDATE 2: The PC version of the demo is now available for download via Origin and, as a surprise, on Steam.

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, as we have highlighted in our special Incoming 2012 article about it, is a game that arrives from the minds of famous people like Ken Rolston, the creator of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowing and Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, R.A. Salvatore, the writer of many fantasy books, and Seth McFarlane, the creator of comic book series like Spawn.

Now, ahead of the game’s actual release in February, Electronic Arts and its two developers will deploy a special demo that will give players a taste of Amalur’s fast-paced combat and its sprawling open world.

In case you want another reason to experience the demo, don’t forget that some cool unlockable items for Mass Effect 3 will be given to all those who finish it, as part of a special cross promotion scheme.

The demo for Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning will be released later today, on the PC via EA’s Origin service, on the Playstation 3 via the PS Store, and on the Xbox 360 via Xbox Live.
