The development team at Rebellion says that it is in the early planning stages of working on a full-fledged sequel to Evil Genius that will be offered on the PC.

An official blog post states, “When Jason – Rebellion’s CEO and co-founder – tweeted earlier in the year about a potential follow up to Evil Genius, he wasn’t talking about Evil Genius Online, which was already in development by a small team here in our Oxford studio.”

Many fans of the classic series were disappointed with the social game that the team launched.

Apparently, Rebellion failed to secure funding from publishers for a sequel to Evil Genius but it says that, at the moment, it aims at getting the resources needed via alternative means, which probably means a crowdfunding campaign.

It seems that the studio wants the community to be part of the development process for the new game and will talk to them about the core features.
