Video game publisher Activision has released a new developer diary for its upcoming Prototype 2, with the main focus being the side activities that the player can take on in the game.

The video shows how the main character will be able to discover new case files and missions that he can perform in order to get a range of rewards that can then be used in order to make the main story missions somewhat easier.

There’s no obligation to perform any of the side missions stuff, but it can be helpful for those trying to get some variety or make the core gameplay somewhat easier.

Prototype 2 tells the story of James Heller, another infected man who must search New York for the protagonist of the first game in the series and answers about his future.

Prototype 2 will launch on April 24, 2012 in North America and three days later in Europe for the PC, the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360.
