We've talked about quite a lot of things in this Portal 2 diary series, from the great characters to the new puzzle elements or the developer commentary mode which lets players find out a bit more about how Portal 2 actually came to be.

We also need to point out just how funny Portal 2 can be, once again proving that the writing from its developers at Valve is top notch.

While the story is paced almost flawlessly, taking Chell, the heroine of the game, through all sorts of situations, I won't go into details, because it's extremely easy to spoil her brand new adventure.

Instead, I'll just focus on the many amusing moments that will appear throughout the narrative.

Right from the beginning of the single-player mode, and extending even through the cooperative multiplayer one, Portal 2 never loses its charm, managing to convey hilarious dialog or events.

Your first encounter is with Wheatley, the amusing British robot which will guide you through some of your experiences in and around the Aperture Science facility.

In between his British humor, you'll encounter the infamous GLaDOS, the antagonist from the first Portal, which, as you can imagine, doesn't consider your previous efforts to have her murdered all that nice.

But, instead of punishing you with various death threats, the AI takes it out on you with some of the most amusing insults ever to appear in a video game.

From alluding to Chell's weight or to her "horrible" nature, GLaDOS' enacts her revenge with a wide array of passive aggressive insults that seem more fitting of a child than a full pledged evil artificial intelligence.

The fun doesn't stop, especially if you're out to get some of the game's 50 achievements, as some of them force you to actually die a few (hilarious) times, in order to see just how your enemies will react to your demise.

The Co-Op mode also manages to retain the funny nature of the regular campaign, with GLaDOS commenting at the beginning and end of each test chamber, sometimes trying to make the two robots, Atlas and P-Body, jealous of one another or just making fun of actual human beings with her fellow machines.

Overall, if you want to take a break from the regular array of "serious" games, then Portal 2 should definitely be picked up, even though you should probably experience the original Portal first in order to get all the jokes.
