Forza Horizon 2 has been officially announced after a number of rumors about it and one of the elements of the series that the development team is aiming to keep unchanged with the sequel is the party-like atmosphere that permeated the original.

Ralph Fulton, the game director working on the racing experience, tells IGN that, “We had a vision of a festival of cars, of music, of exciting, action-packed adventures on the open road. And we were really lucky, because Turn 10 believed in that vision and they believed in us; they enabled us to create that.”

The developer says that the original title is still selling well on the Xbox 360 and that those who play it tend to react positively to the more relaxed feeling of the title.

The new Forza Horizon game will offer a more arcade experience than Forza 5, which was launched last year, but the team is using the same graphics engine in order to deliver a high quality take on both the locations that players will visit and the cars that they will be using.

The title will take place in the south of France and in northern Italy.

Forza Horizon 2 will be launched on the Xbox One at some point before the end of the year.
