Ralph Fulton, a creative director at Playground Games, says that his team does not have any plans to include a single-player story in the upcoming Forza Horizon 2, but that those who do not want to engage in multiplayer racing can still play solo.

He is quoted by CVG as saying that “We understand there are lots of players like that. What we don't have is a story, per say. There is a really strong structure set up around the festival and the Drivatars. They really are the characters in the game. You form your own narratives with real people, friends, and family you know.”

The Drivatar system was first introduced in Forza Motorsport 5 and is designed to track how each player uses each car in the game on the included tracks, and then tries to create an approximation which is later shared with the wider community.

A lot of players have complained that the system created much too aggressive competitors on launch, but since then the entire concept was tweaked by developer Turn 10.

Playground Games has full access to the entire tech for Forza Horizon 2 and has promised that players will see improvements when they play on the Xbox One.

On the 360, on which the title is developed by Sumo Digital, the feature will not be offered.

Forza Horizon 2 will be launched on both platforms on September 30 of this year.
