Sony says that it offers better stability for most games

Video game publisher and hardware maker Sony has launched a new firmware update for its PlayStation Vita handheld, labeled 1.67, which is optional and can be downloaded by any user by going to the Settings tab of the console’s menu.

The new update is not required in order to access the PlayStation Network and the company has only said that it “improves stability for some PlayStation Vita titles.”

Given its size of 97 MB, the 1.67 update probably does some other things to the PlayStation Vita, but Sony has been notoriously tight lipped when it comes to firmware updates for its hardware.

The fact that 1.67 arrives just a few days after the most recent mandatory firmware update was introduced to the handheld suggests that some players might have reported certain issues that needed to be fixed quickly.

The PlayStation Vita was launched in the West during February of this year, and Sony has recently said that it was satisfied with the sales.
