The development team in charge of the PlayStation Vita handheld at Sony is delivering a new system software update for the device, labeled 3.18, which will be available to all users the next time they turn on their platform.

The company is not offering any sort of details on the changes that it is introducing and only says that stability while some features are being used has been improved.

Fans are also saying that firmware update 3.18 for the PlayStation Vita is designed to eliminate a homebrew exploit.

Sony adds on the official support site that “downloading and installing the PS Vita system software update will update your PS Vita system's operating system to include the latest security patches, as well as new and revised applications, features, and settings. It is recommended that you always maintain your system to use the latest version of the system software.”

Lately, the PlayStation Vita has been promoted as a companion device to the PlayStation 4 home console, and Sony says that it wants to create an even deeper connection between the two platforms in the coming years.

The Nintendo-made 3DS continues to be the best-selling handheld in the world of gaming, despite the relative lack of success of the Wii U.
