Sony has just released a brand new firmware version for its PlayStation Vita handheld console, taking it to version 1.66 and solving a small problem that appeared after yesterday’s release of software 1.65.

The PlayStation Vita has been around for over a month and, since then, Sony has relied on software updates to add new features and improve existing ones on the handheld console.

Yesterday, Vita owners were treated with firmware 1.65, which changed the settings in the Notifications menu and made a few other modifications.

Sadly, the software created a small problem for Vita owners in Europe, as those with PlayStation Plus subscriptions could no longer play PS minis titles they had downloaded for free.

That problem has been fixed and Sony has now deployed firmware 1.66 for its European PlayStation Vita owners.

You can apply the update to your console’s software by connecting it to a wireless Internet hotspot or to a PC or PlayStation 3 device that has an online connection.
