Kaz Hirai, the leader of Sony, says that his company wants the recently announced PlayStation Now concept to be an advantage for gamers, who have more accessibility, but also for developers who can work with larger audiences.

Initially, the service will be offered on PlayStation-branded devices, but the long-term plan is to use the streaming tech to make sure that it also reaches those who are interested in content on tablets and smartphones and other devices.

He is quoted by VG247 as saying that, “That really expands the world of PlayStation beyond the PlayStation specific consoles and I think it bodes well for PlayStation and the content creators as well. And most definitely for the customers.”

PlayStation Now will first be offered during the summer in the United States and the company has not explained whether it will ask users to pay for it separately or it will integrate it into PS Plus.
