Sony is not saying why the features are not included in the OS

The team at Sony in charge of the launch of the PlayStation 4 announces that it plans to offer a system update labeled 1.5 on the same date that the device launches, to add a number of new features.

The company reveals that the update is required in order to power all second screen experiences that are linked to the PlayStation Vita, the Remote Play service, play as you download, spectate, and more.

A full rundown of the extra functionality added to the PlayStation 4 can be found on the official blog post.

Sony is not saying why an update is required to deliver these features and why they cannot be simply integrated into the core operating system of the PlayStation 4.

The fact that the patch is available on launch day will probably lead to overcrowded servers and low download speeds.

The home console will be out on November 15 in North America and two weeks later in Europe.
