Gamers who want to remain private will be able to do so

The team at Sony working on the PlayStation 4 says that, on launch, the new console will allow users to use their real-world information on their accounts as long as they are comfortable with the privacy issues that such a move could bring.

Kotaku says that an official representative has confirmed the existence of the feature and the fact that it is entirely optional.

Recently, Microsoft has announced that it wants to offer a real-name option for the Xbox One, but that the feature is not a priority and will be added after launch via a patch.

The idea behind the use of real names and other info on home consoles is to make players more responsible for their comments and actions and encourage a more civilized way of interacting with peers.

The PlayStation 4 will be out on November 15 in North America and two weeks later in Europe.
