Rumors about a Sony-developed PlayStation 4 virtual reality solution have been appearing for a while, but a developer who is working for both platforms says that the new device is comparable to the one that Valve demoed at its Dev Days.

RoadtoVR claims that resolutions for both VR solutions are close, with 1080p on two panels, and even the head tracking accuracy is similar.

Sony has not offered any sort of official information on its virtual reality headset and will probably only announce it after it’s sure that there’s a market for such a device.

Valve has also explained that it is not aiming to launch its own VR solution commercially and that it will be working with the team behind the Oculus Rift to create a consumer version of its own tech.

A number of analysts believe that virtual reality represents the future of gaming as long as the device is launched with no bugs and at an acceptable price.
