The problem is not linked to the recently launched firmware update

Sony says that it is currently investigating a problem which is affecting a small number of PlayStation 4 users and makes it impossible for them to complete the login process for the PlayStation Network.

It seems that those who are affected are unable to connect even if they restart their home console and reconfigure their Internet connection.

Sony did not say when it might have a solution or whether the problem is linked to the PlayStation 4 itself or to the network infrastructure of the PSN.

Earlier during the year, the platform was affected by another error that Sony found the cause of and the company has pledged that it will replace all consoles that are affected by hardware failure.

The PlayStation 4 has managed to deliver 4.2 million units to gamers before the end of 2013, beating the Xbox One from Microsoft.

Sony has recently delivered a new firmware update, but it seems to be unrelated with the PSN problem.
