Sony is apparently seeking to hire outside consultants in the coming weeks in order to implement important cuts to its entertainment division, which might end up affecting the recently launched PlayStation 4 home console.

A report cited by NeoGAF says that the company needs to generate about 100 million dollars (76 million Euro) in savings, which might include job losses and the elimination of whole divisions.

Recently, one of the board members has asked Sony to make its entertainment division independent in order to focus on its core business.

Kazuo Hirai, the chief executive officer of the company, is set to host a press conference on November 21, during which he will announce his company’s entertainment strategy.

The executive has previously headed the PlayStation gaming division.

The PlayStation 4 was marketed as an entertainment hub and cuts might end up affecting the amount of content that users will be able to enjoy on the new device.
