Sony is launching a new firmware update for the PlayStation 4, labeled 1.61, which is designed to enhance the stability of the next-gen home console.

The information comes via Twitter from Chris Owen, the leading community manager at the European division of the company, who says that all users should get access to it soon.

Sony is not saying exactly which applications or games are now more stable or if there are any other features of the PlayStation 4 that are improved by firmware 1.61.

Chris Owen also says that the company does have plans to enhance the functionality of the PS4, but is not yet willing to offer any details on when new features might arrive.

Sony has recently announced that, as of February 8, the PlayStation 4 has managed to move 5.3 million units to gamers, which is more than the Xbox One from Microsoft.
