Brian Lindley, a producer working at PopCap Games, says that the variety of abilities offered in Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare is designed to convince players to reach as high a level as possible to customize the power of their characters.

The developer explains in an interview on the official Major Nelson blog that, initially, core abilities will be unlocked and then gamers will able to use ice, fire, toxicity, electricity, and even dark energy to tweak them even further.

He adds, “A lot of interesting team play strategies emerge when you start to combine the different outfits and weapon variations with those of your teammates.”

The company has not yet offered a full list of the abilities that will be included in the game.

Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare will be launched in late February 2014 and will mix traditional third-person shooter elements with the unique style of the PopCap Games universe.
