Dave Roberts, the chief executive officer at PopCap Games, says that despite being exclusive to the iOS-powered devices, Plants vs. Zombies 2: It’s About Time is the biggest launch in the history of the studio so far.

He tells GeekWire that, “The fact that we hit number one in the app store charts, based purely on – I mean there’s nothing, seriously. I don’t think anyone at EA has seen anything go up that fast to the top downloads.”

Roberts also expects to generate sales in two days that are bigger than those that the first Plants vs. Zombies generated on the PC in one year.

At the moment, the studio is also working on a new third-person Plants vs. Zombies title, called Garden Warfare, which is expected to use free-to-play mechanics and will be launched on the PC, current-gen consoles and the Xbox One.
