Video game developer PopCap Games announces that it is delaying the much-awaited Plants vs. Zombies 2 to a later date during the summer in order to make sure that the experience lives up to the expectations of the fans community.

The game was originally set to be launched on July 18 and the team has not offered a clear reason for the delay.

A Twitter message states, "Plants vs. Zombies 2, originally slated for a July 18th release, will now be released later in the summer. Stay tuned for more details."

Plants vs. Zombies 2 will use the same core formula as the first title in the series, with a series of enhanced mechanics.

A separate team is using Frostbite 3 in order to create Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare, which is a cooperative third-person shooter.
