Sony Online Entertainment has revealed its grand plans, intending to deliver regular content and balance updates to their online multiplayer hit PlanetSide 2.

The company promised weekly updates for the game, to be expected every Wednesday, starting January 15. The move is primarily aimed at delivering timely fixes, without compromising larger planned content updates.

“[Weekly updates] means we'll be more rapidly respond to bugs & balance issues in the game without having to rely on hotfixes as much,” Creative Director Matt Higby explained on the PlanetSide 2 forums.

He continued stating that they would also be able to release new content more frequently and, most importantly, more consistently.

With each individual update being much more smaller and focused, there will be a lower chance of something going wrong, and hopefully players will see a decrease in the number of bugs being introduced with the updates.

Higby also mentioned that the first weekly updates to be experienced would be rather on the small side, as the team got used to the new development process and delivery schedule.
