The team wants to offer a quality title on launch

Video game developer Obsidian and publishing partner Paradox Interactive announce that they are delaying Pillars of Eternity, their classic role-playing game with party mechanics, to early 2015 in order to make sure that the quality of the experience is the one that the fan base is expecting.

The game was initially set to arrive in the winter of 2014, and both the companies are saying that feedback coming from those who have backed the title on Kickstarter is important and is helping the developers to create a better game.

Feargus Urquhart, the chief executive officer of Obsidian, is quoted in the official announcement as saying that “Since the very beginning of this project we promised our fans and ourselves that we would  release this game only when we knew it would be absolutely ready for the best experience  possible. We're very close to that point, but not quite there yet.”

The developers are not saying exactly which area of the Pillars of Eternity experience needs to be worked on at the moment, but the reaction among backers will probably be one of disappointment.

The new title from Obsidian is designed to appeal to classic fans of the Infinity engine and will use an entirely new fantasy universe that will be familiar to fans but will also deliver some surprises.
