The highly popular Shin Megami Tensei-based role-playing game Persona 4 might be making its way to the PlayStation 3 home entertainment system from Sony.

Persona 4 is the fifth installment in the Shin Megami Tensei: Persona series and originally debuted in 2008, on the PlayStation 2. An enhanced remake of the game was developed and released in late 2012 for the PlayStation Vita handheld console, and both versions of the game were very well received by critics and the general public alike.

The plot follows a band of characters traveling between the real world and the TV world and investigating a series of murders, and the game was awarded various distinctions for its excellent story and high quality of work.

For now, all that points to a PlayStation 3 release of the role-playing game is a recent ESRB rating of Persona 4 that lists Sony's console as platform. That could mean that the game is headed to the PlayStation 2 classics section of the PlayStation Network, joining a host of other available titles.

Considering that Atlus' games are hard to come by in physical form and that the PlayStation Network's digital library of Persona games already numbers a few titles, there is pretty strong evidence to suggest that Persona 4 is also coming to the PlayStation Network.
