Video game developer Seatribe and publisher Paradox Interactive have announced that they are opening beta stage sign-ups for Salem, their free-to-play MMO that uses the background of the initial American colonies, allowing anyone interested to see what the game has to offer.

Björn Johannessen, who is the lead designer at Seatribe working on Salem, stated, “We’ve been getting Beta requests from gamers since we announced Salem and it’s great to finally be able to let people into the beta testing. We’ve chosen to keep the sign up completely open, the more the merrier, and will do our best to listen to all feedback we get.”

Salem is oriented towards crafting and the battle against the wilderness of the frontier and players will be able to develop complex interactions with one another as they work together and also compete to obtain the materials needed to better develop their own characters.

Salem is set to be launched on the PC during the second quarter of the year.
