Panzer General Online is now officially out, allowing armchair generals from all across the globe to show their tactical prowess from the comfort of their own home.

The famed Panzer General series is one of the most recognizable in strategy gaming history, with its high point, Panzer General 2, still being considered a top-notch tactical experience due to its solid gameplay mechanics, despite its aged visuals.

Panzer General Online was initially announced in August 2013, under development at Battle Isle, Settlers and Anno creators Blue Byte.

The game is free to play and can be enjoyed in its entirety in a browser window, with no client downloads required, and it presents tactical turn-based gameplay based on collectible card game and board game mechanics, allowing players to control a small army on a hex-grid battle map.

The game allows players to test their skill in battle against other players, in three different multiplayer modes, as well as competing in the challenging Survival Mode, where the rewards grow with each victory.

The game is more in-tune with modern gaming habits than it is with the classical experience that consecrated the Panzer General series, but it is, however, a solid experience that mixes simple mechanics with strategic decisions and offers rewarding gameplay, and if you want to see whether or not it's for you, you can sign up for free on the Panzer General Online website.
