The PlayStation 4 is now on sale in 48 countries worldwide as of today, December 13, according to a new announcement from Sony, who just rolled out the next-gen device in quite a few new territories.

The PS4 made its debut first in North America on November 15 and then reached certain European countries and other PAL regions like Australia on November 29.

The Japanese company has continued to roll out the device in plenty of other territories and has now confirmed on PS blog that, as of December 13, the PS4 is officially on sale in 48 countries worldwide.

This massive jump is due to the device's debut in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Slovakia, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, and South Africa.

Later today, gamers in Bolivia, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Venezuela will also get their hands on the next-gen console.

More countries will follow in the following months, so expect to see the PS4 available globally next year.
