Electronic Arts has just confirmed that it's currently starting a maintenance period for its Origin digital distribution service and, as a result, online access might be affected during certain moments today, September 17.

Origin is EA's sole digital distribution service, offering access to PC and Mac games via the client program, and to online features across consoles like PS3 or Xbox 360.

In order to continue improving the service, EA has confirmed on Twitter that it's currently conducting maintenance on Origin today, September 17.

This may affect online access via the service but EA is unsure of what repercussions the maintenance period will have.

As of yet, it's unclear when the maintenance will end, so Origin users should just hope that their online access isn't interrupted when playing important or online-only titles, like SimCity.
