The development team at Loot Drop working on the Kickstarter-funded Shaker: Old School RPG has offered more details on the narrative side of the game, including a new piece of character art for main character James Connelly and more information on the Shaker Corporation, which is behind many of the game’s events.

The company employs 806 people when the game starts and is linked to a device which was invented in a MIT lab and allows its operators to see back into human history while also looking as far as 100 years into the future.

The developers say that Shaker “averted wars, plagues and countless regional skirmishes. It has also avoided the temptation to mess with free will or act as a surprise benefactor. A multi-national board worked (and mostly argued) to ensure its neutrality and to keep its findings secret.”

The start of the game on July 1, 2526 coincides with the moment when Shaker saw the whole galaxy disappear and the planet of Antera was determined as the cause of the disturbance.
