The team created a bigger world than it originally expected

Video game developer Obsidian says that it is expecting to launch its much-awaited Pillars of Eternity role-playing game during the second half of 2014 because the amount of content that’s being created for the title needs time to become reality.

Josh Sawyer, the project leader working on the game, tells Eurogamer that, “We foresaw needing a bit more time when the Kickstarter ended. It’s understandable that people don’t know this but when you start a Kickstarter, once it goes live, you can’t change that date. You’re not allowed to change to that date.”

He cites the increase in the number of classes, which has gone up from 5 to 11, and the size of the game world as the main reasons for pushing the launch of Pillars of Eternity to the second half of this year.

Sawyer also says that his team will only reveal a clear release date once it’s confident that it can deliver on it.
