Nvidia has just revealed its new Tegra K1 chipset that will bridge the gap between mobile devices and desktop PCs and that, according to the company, matches the PS4 and the Xbox One next-gen consoles in terms of performance.

Nvidia made a big announcement at CES 2014 earlier today, when it presented to the world the Nvidia Tegra K1 mobile processor, an impressive new chip that can work both inside mobile devices like smartphones or tablets, but also inside PCs, thanks to different versions.

Nvidia's announcement was topped with a comparison between the K1 and the new wave of consoles, the Xbox One and the PS4, with the company saying that it equals them in terms of performance.

In order to back up its claims, a special demonstration of Epic Games' Unreal Engine 4 running on the Tegra K1 was revealed, complete with a statement from the studio's Tim Sweeney, who revealed that his team could "take absolutely anything that runs on PC or high-end consoles and run it on Tegra."
