After a bit of teasing and an announcement a few weeks ago, Nvidia has just confirmed that the Shield handheld console has a lower $299 (€225) price tag, and that it's going to be released on June 27.

Nvidia surprised a lot of people at the beginning of the year when it presented Project Shield, a portable games console powered by Android that includes a controller and a screen, and can even play PC games if the computer is using an Nvidia graphics card.

A few weeks ago, Nvidia confirmed that Shield will come out in summer and pinned a rather surprising $349 (€263) price tag on the device.

Now, the company has made another announcement, confirming that the final price is actually $299 / €299.

What's more, a new release date has also been pinned on the portable device, namely June 27.

Those who pre-ordered Shield at the full price will get their money back, according to the official blog.
