Publisher Square Enix is temporarily opening the gates of its upcoming arena battling title with a vampire flavor, Nosgoth, giving everybody a chance to try the game out over the course of this weekend.

The open beta is scheduled to debut this Thursday, August 7, and to run through Monday, August 11, rewarding participants with double XP as well as an exclusive in-game badge.

The team-based player versus player-centric competitive multiplayer game focuses on battles between humans and vampires, and it is currently in closed beta. Players who want to gain access to it can do so by purchasing a variety of Founder's Packs that get them various in-game perks.

Players can choose from a range of unique classes within each faction, and gain experience during battles in order to expand their arsenal and skill sets, as well as customize their appearance.

The game is based on the Legacy of Kain series, set in the same universe, and developer Psyonix intends to release it as a free-to-play title, most likely sometime during 2015.

Nosgoth is scheduled to transition into an official open beta phase later this year, around winter, at which point it will become available for free to everyone interested in giving it a try.
