Those who already have an Xbox One and Kinect can take solace just in the sensor

Existing Xbox One owners who got the console alongside the new Kinect sensor for 499 USD/EUR won't receive any reward or bonus from Microsoft after the company revealed the 399 USD/EUR price tag for the standalone Xbox One.

Microsoft gambled when it decided last year to launch the Xbox One in a single package alongside the new and improved Kinect sensor, as it forced a 499 USD/EUR price tag onto it, which resulted in a lot of lost sales and gave the lower-priced PS4 a chance to gain an upper hand in the console war.

Yesterday, Microsoft finally revealed that it was dropping the Kinect from the Xbox One package and that it would sell the console for 399 USD/EUR.

As you can imagine, existing Xbox One owners weren't so delighted to hear this, especially since many believe that the new Kinect will become useless, as game developers no longer have the certainty that all Xbox One users have the peripheral.

However, they shouldn't expect a reward or bonus, as Microsoft confirmed to Eurogamer that it had no such plans to make it up to early adopters.

"As with many first generation products, the offerings can be expected to change and evolve over time. Kinect remains an integral part of our vision. Xbox One is better with Kinect, making games, TV and entertainment come alive with premium experiences."

The Xbox One goes on sale for 399 USD/EUR on June 9.
