Microsoft appreciates their dedication but it can't reward them with anything

Microsoft has confirmed that it won't offer a retroactive refund to customers who bought the Xbox One console at launch in the UK before the recent price cut that goes into effect later today, February 28.

The Redmond-based company released the Xbox One in the UK and in 12 other countries around the world on November 22 last year, pinning a price of 499 USD/EUR or 429 GBP on the new device.

However, seeing as how the console is struggling in terms of sales when compared to Sony's lower-priced PS4, Microsoft is now taking certain measures to make a comeback.

One such step is a price cut for the UK region, as the console will cost just 399 GBP starting today, February 28.

For those who got it at full price at launch or in the following months, Microsoft can't reward them with anything, according to UK Marketing Director Harvey Eagle.

He has told OXM that the company appreciates their support but, unfortunately, a "retroactive refund" can't be offered.

Plenty of early adopters in the UK were upset to see the price cut go live just before the launch of Titanfall, so you can bet that Microsoft's reputation took a serious beating in their eyes.
