The game wasn't performing well on the console when it was downloaded onto the hard drive

Electronic Arts has confirmed that it will not release a downloadable Games on Demand version of Titanfall on the Xbox 360 console as it "did not represent the true Titanfall experience."

Titanfall launched last month for the PC and Xbox One platforms, amazing millions of gamers worldwide with its impressive multiplayer-only first-person shooter experience.

After two brief delays, the game also rolled out for the Xbox 360 console at the beginning of the week. While on the PC and Xbox One the title was available as a retail game and a downloadable one, on the Xbox 360 it will only be available on a disc.

EA explained the reasoning on its Help page, confirming that it will not debut a downloadable edition via Games on Demand on the Xbox Live online service.

"After extensive testing, we felt that it simply did not represent the true Titanfall experience and it was decided not to release a Games on Demand version," the studio said. "We hope players understand this decision was all about quality and making sure you get the best Titanfall experience."

Considering downloadable Xbox 360 or PS3 titles have experienced problems in the past in terms of performance, the most notable example being GTA 5, it's possible that Titanfall just didn't run very well off of the Xbox 360 hard drive.
