Video game developer Oxide Games is showing gamers the first video taken from its new Nitrous Engine, introducing an impressive space battle that involves no less than 10,000 units.

The company also promises that gamers will be able to actually play a demo of the game seen in the video on Steam in the near future.

The Nitrous Engine is designed to power video games for the PC, the Xbox One from Microsoft and the PlayStation 4 from Sony.

Oxide Games is made up of veterans coming from Firaxis, who have worked on Civilization V, and is led by Brad Wardell, the chief executive officer of Stardock.

The Nitrous tech is being used for three projects at the moment, but we only know the name of one of them, Mars, which is being created by Soren Johnson, the former lead developer of Civilization V, at Mohawk Games.
