Rumors that Gamestop was ready to ship its stock of the Basic Wii U models back to Nintendo are unfounded according to the company.

Charlie Scibetta, the senior director of corporate communication at Nintendo of America, tells Polygon that, “To clarify: Nintendo is working with its retail partners to simply re-balance the stock of the White 8GB and the Black 32GB Wii U models in the market.”

Apparently, buyers will be able to find all models in stores.

The Wii U has been underperforming and Nintendo is still aiming to sell more than 9 million devices during its current fiscal year.

A stock withdrawal or rebalancing might be a sign that the company is getting ready to introduce a change in prices in order to attract more buyers.

More Wii U games will be revealed around E3.
