Video game publisher and hardware maker Nintendo is aware of the claim that the Wii U has been hacked and says that it is monitoring the situation and getting ready to act as soon as it sees any sign that piracy is becoming an issue.

Nintendo is telling CVG that, "no reports of illegal Wii U games nor unauthorized applications playable on the system while in Wii U mode" have been made so far.

The company adds, "Nintendo continuously monitors all threats to its products’ security and will use technology and will take the necessary legal steps to prevent the facilitation of piracy."

The group that's claiming the Wii U hack says that it will be able to soon release a hardware solution to fully unlock the console.

Nintendo might upgrade its security via firmware updates and it might also use bans to keep the threat manageable.
