The team at hardware maker Nintendo is ready to resort to rather desperate moves in order to increase the sale of its new Wii U home console, with a wave of messages sent to those who already own an older Wii device, encouraging them to upgrade.
The company says that its new console is a better device, mainly because of the second screen offered via the GamePad controller and the overall improved performance, as revealed via a screen on NeoGAF.
The Wii U failed to sell enough to satisfy projections from Nintendo during the period from January to late March.
Still, more than 9 million devices are expected to sell during the current fiscal year, a target that can only be achieved if Nintendo implements a price cut, announces high-profile new games and launches a strong marketing campaign.
