Tecmo Koei has released the second issue of the Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z-inspired digital comic, intended as a sort of prequel and teaser for the upcoming game.

Ninja Gaiden Z will have players take control of the ninja cyborg Yaiba, as he slaughters countless zombies in completely over-the-top furious action.

The hack and slash game is the result of the collaboration between Team Ninja, Comcept and Spark Unlimited, blending both Japanese and Western game development concepts.

The comic is made by prestigious publisher Dark Horse Comics, and is scheduled to deliver the game's back story over three issues.

It's available on the Dark Horse Digital Store for free, and it tells the tale of how Yaiba's sword got the "Heartless" name, from the protagonist's perspective.

The Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z comic is written by Tim Seeley and Josh Emmons, featuring art by Rafael Ortiz and color by Carols Badilla.

Arriving with a slight delay, Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z will come out on March 18 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC platforms.
