Valve has confirmed that a new update is coming for Portal 2, which puts a heavier emphasis on user generated content, packing in a new map editor and infrastructure improvements so that players can share their own creations with others.

Portal 2 received its first big add-on pack a few weeks ago, in the form of the Peer Review DLC, but Valve isn't done with its first person puzzler, confirming, via CVG, that a new update is coming that includes "an easy-to-use in-game map editor that will let users design, build and share their own single-player and co-op test chambers with the community."

Besides the editor, it seems that Valve will add a special infrastructure to support the simple downloading, playing and rating of creations, so get ready to experience a flood of new levels and maps for the game after the DLC is released.

No word yet on how the user generated content update will work on platforms like consoles, so expect some more details in the near future.
