The development team working on the new Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U home console and the 3DS handheld says it will not have a story mode or any cutscenes, because the players spoil them by uploading them to the Internet.

Masahiro Sakurai, the creator of the series, tells Famitsu in a column translated by Kotaku that “I felt if players saw the cutscenes outside of the game, they would no longer serve as rewards for playing the game, so I've decided against having them.”

Fan service will not be completely eliminated from Super Smash Bros., and the team wants to create special presentations for all the characters that are part of the roster.

The 3DS version of the game will apparently include a game mode that is not offered on the Wii U.
