The trailer looks great, and the premise is exciting, but there's no information on his actual, in-game abilities yet

Developer Riot Games has revealed the next champion headed to its wildly popular multiplayer online battle arena title League of Legends, Ekko.

The reveal was made during the broadcast of the Mid-Season Invitational competition, showing a young boy who possesses the power to rewind time.

The power seems to the be tied to some sort of device that presumably blends gears and dials with the arcane arts, and one thing of note is the fact that turning back time seems not to affect Ekko.

As you can see in the great animation below, the blows he receives still affect him after altering the flow of time, so this means that it should be pretty interesting to see how Riot manages to pull this off in-game.

It also means that he'll be more balanced than simply having a big reset button that can undo any mistakes you make on the battlefield.

Turning back time is also a mechanic that's pretty difficult to pull off in a multiplayer game. There already are a couple of similar effects in League of Legends, namely Zilean's ultimate, Chronoshift, teleporting the target champion back in time upon taking lethal damage, similar to how the Weaver's ultimate works in Dota 2.
