Final Fantasy XIII-2 is about one month away from the Japanese launch date and the publisher Square Enix has put out a new trailer which shows off some in game footage and also offers some glimpses into the story of the new installment.

Sazh, one of the more controversial characters from the first game, with his chocobo and his afro haircut, makes an appearance and the quick looks at how the game plays don't offer too many hints about how the developers have evolved and refined the gameplay.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 will be launched in the United States towards the end of January 2012 while the rest of the world will get in early February.

Square Enix has said that the Japanese role playing game genre needs to make improvements with each installment to keep player interest up and suggested that the action RPG system might be used in new game in the franchise.
