DICE, the Swedish developer, and publisher Electronic Arts have launched a new trailer for their first person shooter Battlefield 3, one which focuses on the potential for destruction that the Frostbite 2 brings to the series.

We already knew that the engine was able to deliver beautiful vistas and complex characters on both the PC and on home consoles but the true power it has when it comes to taking part in the environment has not been on show until now.

The trailer might be just 57 seconds long but it's pretty impressive and hints at a game experience where taking out cover for the enemy might just be better than actually finding some for your own character.

Battlefield 3 takes the player to the wars of the modern day for the single player campaign and offers a range of multiplayer maps based upon real world locations.

The game will be out on the PC via Origin and on the home consoles from Sony and Microsoft in late October.
